This month’s meeting was a fresh start to the new year in our new location at PNC Arena! And what better way to start a new year than with an action packed presentation from Ben Brookhart on how to achieve Category 5 Success in 2019.
We all kicked off the lunch with an enthusiastic “BOOM BABY!” before walking through an exercise to define our goals. Ben challenged us to understand the difference between “knowing” and “doing”; “knowing” where you are and where you need to be, understanding the path and obstacles between you and your goal, and “doing” the work to reach your destination.
A portion of the presentation was devoted to understanding our individual “why’s. What is it that motivates us to achieve? Ben boldly expressed his opinion of money as a motivator with an impromptu slingshot demonstration (Spoiler: He doesn’t think it will get you very far). We then covered targets and finished on the imperative to make all goals S.M.A.R.T. goals.
Whatever your personal or professional goals are in 2019, IFMA GTC sincerely hopes that you’ll choose to spend a bit of time with us this year. Committee involvement is a great way to develop your knack for networking or penchant for public speaking while our roster of presentations, tours and events are sure to keep you up to date on the latest in facilities management here at home and around the globe.
