“No matter how brilliant your mind or strategy, if you’re playing a solo game, you’ll always lose out to a team.” —Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn Co-Founder
The Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA Board is a great team! There are 18 people that I rely on daily to run the chapter with me and 56 more people that they rely on to run their committees. We have over 70 volunteers in our organization and that is amazing! We are blessed to have so many folks volunteer their time to ensure our chapter runs smoothly and allow us to carry out our mission and vision.
Mission: To promote participation in and vitality of the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA by focusing on education, networking, and leadership to further develop the core competencies of the facilities profession.
Vision: To serve as the ultimate resource and representative for facility management.
I’d like to take a moment to thank Randy, Neville, Hayden, Carol, Amanda, Brian, Ethan, Sydney, Bob, Randal, Buck, Nancy, Nicole, Roberta, Connie, Mike, Dianne and Marcia and their committee members for their hard work and dedication. We are one heck of a team and I’m so very proud to be able to serve as your President this year. I know we’ll do great things together as the year progresses. We had our annual Volunteer Thank You Party this past weekend and we’ve already scheduled next years in July as an after hours (not on the weekend) so more folks can make it. You spend so much time giving back to the Chapter we want to ensure you are thanked properly! Please know how grateful I am to have all of you working as hard as you do and I hope to get the chance to thank each of you personally throughout the year.
Just a quick note regarding sponsorship, for those that are new sponsors or have changed levels: our website, banners and newsletter should be updated by 10/1/14. Please send any bios or logos you have to sponsorship@ifmatriangle.org
As we move into the fall, we have some very exciting events coming up for the Chapter. Our September program about Advocacy Day will be an informational window into the events in Washington, DC each year. The purpose of Advocacy Day is to put IFMA Members in front of our legislators in Washington DC to advocate for our industry. These folks are pushing for the future of facilities and how we can shape our industry moving forward. We are lucky to have Mike O’Brien participate on behalf of the Chapter and I am know I am looking forward to hearing more about his time there at our monthly meeting.
World Workplace is also upon us and we have 50 people registered from the Chapter to attend this year’s event in New Orleans! This is by far a record high for attendance and it should be a great time! For those attending, you will receive an invite to our Chapter social on Wednesday 9/17 and a few emails from our Chapter Vice President Randy Rabon who will be heading up the trip on behalf of the board. I’m sorry to be missing this year’s conference but I know you will all have a wonderful time!
October’s monthly meeting will be our Chapter Operations update that IFMA National requires we hold annually and your chance to get to know the committee chairs and board members better. Please come and ask us anything you may want to know about the inner workings of our Chapter! We look forward to answering your questions.
November will again be home to our Chapter Appreciation Event! This event is FREE to all professional and associate members and will be held at the Angus Barn on Thursday November 13th. Mark your calendars now for this must attend event! We will also be partnering with Angel Tree throughout November and December with our Community Outreach committee to give back to those less fortunate in our area.
We are planning some wonderful events for you in 2015 as well and you should be looking forward to an awesome Mega Networking Event in late winter and a Professionals Only Event in the spring along with a Sponsorship Recognition event that’s sure to be a blast!
You have a wonderful team planning to make this year the best you’ve ever experienced with the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA! Thank you again for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your president this year, and please do not hesitate to contact me if I can assist in making your IFMA membership better in any way!
